🖋️ 2. The Journals
I started journaling to feel better.
In 2018, my life took a hit.
First, I lost a job.
Then, my mental health.
Crawling out of the darkness, I began experimenting with wellbeing tools.
Inspired by “Tools of Titans” (forever grateful @ Tim Ferriss), I gave journaling a try.
Little did I know this simple “life-hack” would forever change the trajectory of my life, and put me on a quest to understand the human mind, spirituality, and happiness.
Since February 2019, I’ve been documenting my life in stream-of-consciousness journals.
Every day, with little exception, I let my hopes, fears, ideas, and joys pour out of me.
There’s an entry on every subject: parenting, spiritual awakenings, ice-cream flavors, relationships, COVID, walking the dog, world travel, and existential dread.
A big chunk of my notes is dedicated to decoding happiness, health, and wellbeing.
Following depression, I’ve dedicated tens of thousands of hours into healing, strengthening, and recreating myself.
My healing journey was a rollercoaster of experiences ranging from frontiers of psychology and neuroscience (Internal Family Systems, psychedelics, hypnosis), through classics (talk therapy, strength training, yoga), all the way to ancient philosophies (especially Zen), and even the esoteric (tarot, kundalini, sound healing).
And yes, I documented all of it in absurdly meticulous detail.
On the sunnier side, my journals are a celebration of life.
Seeing my son’s first smile, world travels, countryside living, endless laughs with friends, music festivals, and vagabonding under the night skies.
Postcards from my happiest days, always accompanied by great tracks, photos, and videos.
Much space is also dedicated to work life.
Depression was a major turning point in my career.
I realized what I was doing wasn’t working for me.
But what is the alternative?
Figuring out my new path took me through some very interesting experiences, including filming multimillion-dollar villas in Marbella and Uruguay, going broke (more than once), recording vlogs, solving hundreds of self-coaching exercises, consulting for mental health companies, and even co-launching a sustainable architecture studio.
Ideas, brainstorms, business plans, to-do lists — they’re all here, creating a detailed (and ongoing) log of my transition towards the new life-work.
The peculiar thing about my journals is their rawness.
Every page I write is an unedited, uncensored download straight from my heart & mind onto paper.
These entries are wild.
They deal with heavy emotions.
They’re bold, bloody, unfiltered.
Maybe that’s why they help me so much?
If you've ever wondered what goes on inside other people's minds, my journals may offer a rare glimpse.
Ready to taste the frontier of consciousness exploration?
Let's dive in.

🔬3. Experiment - Overview
I’ve been playing with the idea of analyzing my journals for years now.
Coming from the tech/data world, I could imagine the value this dataset may have for researchers, AI therapy companies, and everyone else interested in understanding the human consciousness, behaviour, and psychology.
Just imagine the possibilities we could unlock by feeding this perfect raw data into current state-of-the-art AI models.
Who am I?
What makes me (or anyone else) truly happy?
What are the fundamental truths about our reality?
And - perhaps most importantly - is there a way to put my notes to good use?
Given the volume, consistency, depth, and unfiltered nature of my journal data, it should be possible to find answers, or at least develop hypotheses.
My dream scenario was a rigorous scientific study led by world-class experts.
That didn’t happen (yet?).
So, I decided to duct-tape the first version of the experiment myself…
…and some AI magic, of course.
The general idea in my mind was that if…
a) I transcribe a long enough stretch of the journals
and
b) their contents are rich enough
and
c) I can prompt the models in the right direction
…something cool would happen
And wow, it did.
The journals I analyzed are an intimate window into my life.
I had a rough August and September 2024.
Many things haunted me, both external and within.
My refuge (as always) came in the form of letters.
I’ve written more, deeper, and truer than I did anytime in recent years.
Subjectively, a tough time.
Objectively, perfect source material for experiment purposes.
In total, during the analyzed period (6 August - 14 September 2024), I’ve written a 100-sheet A5 notebook of daily+ notes.
I transcribed the handwritten notes using a combination of Claude.AI’s image recognition, and good ol’ typing.
The end result totaled ~70 pages of 12p computer text (10387 words, and 57479 characters to be precise) covering topics ranging from summer music festivals, through parental and financial struggles, all the way to overcoming creative blocks, and healing from deep trauma.
Depth, variety, and vulnerability?
Check.
All that was left to do was to ask AI the right questions.

☣️ 4. Disclaimer
Before we dive deeper, a MASSIVE DISCLAIMER.
I know little about science.
I am not a psychology professional.
Nor do I claim to have run this experiment in a rigorous scientific way.
I’m just a curious explorer who stumbled upon a nugget of awesomeness and wants to share findings & connect with actual experts.
I’m certain the methodology I used is full of errors, shortcuts, overpromises, and prompting the AI too enthusiastically.
Everything you’ll read about is highly speculative, and best enjoyed with a grain (or a whole dispenser) of salt.
In fact, part of the reason I’m sharing this is because it seems too good to be true.
I need knowledgeable folks to look at this and tell me if I’m not hallucinating.
Still, the early results were so promising, it would be a mistake not to share.
